As the Director of Prelitigation, Melissa Becker leads a dedicated team of case specialists who work with clients to establish relationships and provide guidance after an incident. Melissa knows how an injury can affect a person’s entire life and helps clients navigate the medical aspects of their case.
With over 36 years of nursing experience and 26 years as a Legal Nurse Consultant and Forensic Nurse, Melissa’s ability to analyze and interpret complex medical records from a legal standpoint is unmatched. She is passionate about helping our clients understand what has happened to them and answering questions their medical professionals were unable to answer. Melissa’s medical analysis plays an integral role in developing case strategy.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Melissa completed an Associate’s degree in Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in the Study of Crime and Crime Victims. She previously worked as a Deputy Coroner conducting death investigations and achieved certification as a Medical Legal Death Investigator through the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators. In addition, she has participated in advanced training in accident reconstruction, sexual assault, adverse event reporting, and toxicology analysis. She is an educator for legal staff on topics including nursing malpractice, child abuse, death investigation, strangulation, sexual assault, and has developed a Crime/Forensic webinar series.
When not working, Melissa is a devoted mother to 5 children. She enjoys art fairs, gardening, and home remodeling.
